        Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore

        On March 31, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the implementation of the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries on the economic and trade front, as well as issues related to trade, investment, multilateral and regional cooperation.

        Wang Wentao said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-Singapore economic cooperation and trade have shown strong resilience for development. The development of bilateral cooperation projects between the two governments and at the national level has achieved remarkable results, and cooperation on digital economy and green development has been steadily expanded, continuously creating new momentum for the bilateral economic and trade ties.

        Wang Wentao emphasized that both China and Singapore are staunch defenders of economic globalization and free trade. China stands ready to work with Singapore to implement the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) with high quality, accelerate the development of the 3.0 Version of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, push for early outcomes for the follow-up negotiations on the upgrade of China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, and jointly develop intergovernmental and national bilateral cooperation projects, promote China's accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA), align with high-standard economic and trade rules, and promote high-quality development with high-level opening up.

        Gan Kim Yong said that Singapore is a beneficiary of open economy. Singapore stands ready to deepen cooperation with China on digital economy and green development, jointly promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, sign a follow-up agreement on upgrading the China-Singapore FTA as soon as possible, upgrade and improve the quality of intergovernmental projects, and continue to support China's accession to CPTPP and DEPA.
